Our mission is to promote quality of life in our communities through advance care planning, palliative care and hospice. Through our work
people will understand the value of and have
access to these three vital components of the healthcare system.

History

In 1980, a group of medical professionals came together to form the Minnesota Hospice Organization (now Minnesota Network of Hospice & Palliative Care–MNHPC). At that time, Minnesota was a leader in the hospice field where its first hospice, Hospice St. Paul (affiliated with Bethesda Hospital), was one of 27 demonstration hospice programs in the country, with other Minnesota hospitals establishing inpatient hospice units with designated hospice beds. Two Minnesotans active with the National Hospice Organization (now National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization–NHPCO) helped found the organization.
